# Timer & Time Tracking

The **Task Timer** tracks time against individual actions—countdown sprints, stopwatch sessions, and logged entries for billing or retrospectives.

## Turn it on

1. **Setup → Options → Timer**
2. Enable **Enable Timer Feature**
3. Configure optional settings:
   - **Quick Timer Duration** — default minutes for the **+X Min** button (e.g. 25 for Pomodoro)
   - **Timer Step Value** — minutes added/removed with +/- while running
   - **Timer Completion Sound** — chime when a countdown finishes
   - **Auto Stop Timer on Schedule Change** — stops the timer when the active schedule switches
   - **Start Timer on Primary Monitor** — moves the window when you open the timer panel

## Open the timer

When a task is active on Focus, tap the **green timer FAB** (bottom-right). The timer panel slides in from the right.

## Modes

**Quick countdown:** Click **+25 Min** (or your configured default) to start a focus sprint on the current task. Adjust time with **+** and **−** while running.

**Stopwatch / estimated duration:** Set an **estimated duration** on an action (edit form). The timer can track elapsed time against that estimate and show time remaining.

**Quick time entry:** When stopped, use the **+** icon in the timer header to log time without running the clock—useful for backfilling a client call.

**Session notes:** Optional notes field in the timer panel—what you worked on during this session.

## Time entries

Open **time entries** from the action edit form or task UI to see logged sessions, add manual entries, or review totals. **Overview** shows aggregate **time logged** across all tasks.

## Use cases

**Consultant billing:** Run the timer during client work; log entries attach to the action for that client block.

**Pomodoro:** Set Quick Timer Duration to 25 minutes; repeat between checklist steps.

**Retrospective:** Compare estimated duration vs logged time when planning next week's actions.

## Tips

- The timer attaches to the **current task**; reassign if you switched tasks mid-session (target icon when detached)
- Timer FAB shows elapsed time while running
- Pair **Schedules** color blocks with per-task time for "who was this hour for?"
