# Quick Notes — Canvas Tools

## View mode and Edit mode

Quick Notes opens in **view mode** by default—a clean reference surface without toolbars in the way. Perfect when the board lives on a second monitor and you just need to glance at it.

When you need to change something:

- Click **Edit** in the top bar, or
- **Double-click** the canvas

The toolbar appears. Click **Done** when you are finished. Your layout saves automatically.

## Select

Move, resize, reorder, and delete items on the canvas. Use the layer controls on a selected item to send shapes forward or backward.

## Text

Click the canvas to place a text label. Good for captions, section headers, or a name written large during a call.

## Draw

Choose from:

- **Freeform** — pen strokes for quick scribbles
- **Box** — rectangles for grouping or highlighting
- **Line** — connectors between ideas
- **Ellipse** — circles and ovals

## Symbols

Drop simple shapes—diamonds, stars, triangles, arrows, and flowchart-style icons—for fast diagrams. Symbol mode stays active until you press **Esc**, click an existing shape, or pick another tool.
