# Alerts

**Alerts** are time-of-day reminders with sound and a full-screen notice—stand up and stretch, join a call, switch context, or any nudge you choose. Enable them in **Setup → Options → Alerts**.

## Schedule an alert

1. On Focus, tap the **alerts bell FAB** (bottom-right when enabled)
2. Enter a **message** (e.g. "Client call", "Walk break")
3. Set **when** it fires:
   - **Quick delays** — +5 min, +15 min, +30 min, etc.
   - **Clock time** — pick a time today
   - **Fixed slots** — next :00 / :30 times (rings one minute before)
   - **Repeat weekly** — standing alert at a clock time on the days you choose (e.g. weekdays at 2:15 “Go get the kids”)
4. Pick a **sound** (test with the speaker icon)
5. Pick a **background** theme for the full-screen alert
6. Click **Schedule alert** (or **Add standing alert** when weekly repeat is on)

One-shot alerts appear under **Scheduled**; weekly ones under **Standing (weekly)**. Remove any with **Remove**.

## When an alert fires

A **full-screen overlay** shows your message with the theme you picked. Sound repeats for up to two minutes; dismiss the overlay when you are ready. The FAB turns red/pulses when an alert is due or firing.

## Use cases

**Meeting nudge:** "Zoom with design team" at 2:55 pm—rings before the hour so you can wrap up.

**Health:** "Stand and walk" every 20 minutes—schedule the next one when you dismiss the current alert.

**Context switch:** "Switch to Side Hustle schedule" at 7 pm when your day job block ends.

**Deep work boundary:** Countdown alert to stop refining and ship.

**School pickup:** Standing weekly alert Mon–Fri at 2:15 — no need to repaint schedule blocks for a life errand.

## Tips

- The FAB shows a **minute countdown** when alerts are queued (violet = scheduled, amber = due soon)
- Alerts are separate from **action due dates** on the calendar—use due dates for deadlines, alerts for "ping me at 3:15"
- Optional: fired alerts can append a line to **today's Notes** journal entry
- Enable **Enable alerts** only when you want the FAB—no nagging when it is off
- **Focus mode complete alert** (same Options → Alerts section) is separate: when a timed focus session ends, MNTT can flash a splash and play the alert tone for 0–99 seconds (0 = silent). Dismiss anytime.
