# Action Tips

Actions are the work that you wish to accompish defined in very general terms. While some todo applications recommend breaking this down into smaller chunks, this app is about focus for creatives and as a creative I would recommend breaking your actions down just small enough where you have a clear understanding of what to do.

Spending time managing your todo app is rather pointless in my book. I use a focus tool to help me focus to accomplish my project and when I spend more time figuring out my tasks than doing my tasks, well, that's a bad trade.

I'm not talking about planning your project and deciding what needs to be done; that's smart time spent. But, once you have a gameplan, your focus tool should take minimal effort and then get out of the way and let you work.

These are not rules, but rather suggestions - but ultimatly, this is your tool to use how you see fit.

If you have a unique workflow, drop us a note and let us know how you use it. We may feature you in an upcoming tech talk.

## General Considerations

- Avoid tiny actions
- Use drag/drop to change the order of tasks
- Restrict the # of actions on a schedule to 1 week of work
- Create a "backlog" schedule to hold ALL items yet to be complete
- Move actions from backlog at the end of the week into the current schedules

Using unconnected schedules for your task storage allows you to capture future work without cluttering your current work week.

Consider a week as a "sprint"; if you're a developer, this makes sense. If not, a sprint is a block of time for which to acomplish work. The team all coordinate around this "sprint" such that their outputs sync at the end of the sprint. This method of work tends to keep fast-moving teams well, moving. Long sprints get bogged. Short sprints force focus.

We're all about focus.

## Working With the Task List

- **Set Active Task**: Click a task row to set it as the active task and return to the main window.
- **Edit a Task**: Use the pencil icon on the right side of the row to open the edit modal.
- **Delete a Task**: Use the trashcan icon to remove the task (you’ll be asked to confirm).
- **Open Task List**: Click the schedule name to open the full list for that schedule.
- **Integration Indicator**: Tasks linked to an external integration show “Synced with” and the integration title in bold. Local tasks show no sync label.
